Friday Five

Instead of my usual Friday post about the top 5 things I enjoyed this week, I am taking a different route. This week had some ups and downs and as a result, I have really relied on my favorite quotes/inspirational sayings to keep me going when I needed a pick me up.

Here are my top 5 quotes (which by the way is very hard to do):

Friday Five

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you all had a great week! The weather this week has been unpleasant making this week seem longer then normal, so I am happy it is Friday!

1.  Finally…

I am beyond excited that yesterday was the 1st day of May. However, here in Chicago it did not feel like it as it was only 45 degrees here! Brrrr! This winter was absolutely brutal and I cannot wait until the weather reaches and stays at warmer temps!

2. The 7 Levels of Intimacy by Matthew Kelly

Image

My boyfriend was sent a podcast by a friend of a speech by Matthew Kelly at a conference. We both listed to his podcast and both thought his viewpoints and messages were very powerful. The podcast summed up his book by discussing how the strongest love and relationships flourish when these 7 levels are achieved.  Matthew Kelly also has a book about the 7 Levels of Intimacy that I plan to read this summer.

3. Guacamole

Last weekend I went to this Mexican restaurant with my Austin and my two best friends. This restaurant literally had a man that went from table to table and made fresh how you want it guacamole right at your table. Talk about heaven. I absolutely love guacamole, so I thought this was THE coolest thing ever!!

4. Inspiration Story of the Week

100 Year Old Woman Never Misses A Day At The Gym: I came across this story this week about a woman in New York who just turned 100 who makes a trip to the gym everyday. She takes various classes at the gym to stay fit. In the article she talked about how she does not feel 100 and that regular exercise is definitely the reason to her current health. I hope that one day I will be active and healthy at 100 like Nan!

5. Convinced a friend!

I convinced one of my friends to sign up and run his first half marathon. Surprisingly, it did not take too much convincing! I mentioned to him how I was looking into this half and right away he said he would run it! I started laughing when the next morning he sent me the link that showed he had registered. I guess I should go online now and register for myself! Ha!

Greek Yogurt Match-Up

I have never tried or had greek yogurt until recently. Every morning I have yogurt and cereal for breakfast. Up until recently, I had Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt 50 calorie yogurt with my cereal. I love that yogurt but I found myself hungry not soon after. As a teacher I do not have that many opportunities to eat throughout the day so I decided to try out greek yogurt instead because of the added protein it provides.

I since have tried 3 different brands: Chobani Simply 100 (in Black Cherry, Blueberry, Peach, and Strawberry), Dannon Light & Fit Greek (in Strawberry, Peach, and Blueberry), and Miejer 100 (which is a local brand). I will list my pros and cons of each.

Chobani Simply 100

Pros: It has 5 grams of fiber and 12 grams of protein and only 100 calories with O% fat. It also is made from only natural ingredients including using Stevia as its sweetener.

Cons: I thought the texture consistency was a little watery. Also I cannot describe, but the overall taste just feels off. I feel like it has an almost bitter taste to it.

Dannon Light and Fit Greek Nonfat Yogurt

Pros: Just like the Chobani this yogurt contains 12 grams of protein and 0% fat. However, the Light and Fit is only 80 calories compared to the 1oo. More importantly it tastes great! All three flavors I have tried are so yummy! The fruit is on the bottom like the Chobani Simply 100, but when stirred the yogurt is very smoth and tastes great!

Cons: The biggest con in the Dannon yogurt compared to Chobani is that there are NO grams of fiber. There is also 1 more gram of sugar than the Chobani. Also the Dannon is not made from all natural ingredients.

My Choice: Dannon Light& Fit! While it is not all natural, it has the same amount of protein and more important it is delicious!

Do you eat greek yogurt? What kind do you like? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Finally, today is Wednesday so then of course it is #PinkWednesday! My Pink Wednesday weekly inspiration:
