Fuel 100 Electro-Bites Review and Giveaway!

As fall marathon season is approaching and many of you in training mode, I wanted to share a review and host a giveaway for Fuel 100 Electro-Bites as an option for you to consider it as  a fuel option for your runs. I use Electro-Bites on my runs and love them!

Fuel 100 Electro-Bites are not a gel or a bar. Rather they are little bites about the size of an M&M. The bites are made of all natural ingredients and each serving of Electro-Bites contains:

  •  Organic Coconut Oil
  •  Organic Agave Syrup
  •  Potato Starch
  •  Sodium (190mg) , Magnesium (46mg), Potassium (55mg)

Also each serving is only 100 calories. The coconut oil is a key ingredient of Electro-Bites as it is quickly absorbed and as a result can be quickly converted to energy. Also since it is quickly absorbed this can help reduce any stomach issues with trying to digest the fuel on a run. However, while the coconut oil can be quickly absorbed it still contains 40% fat to provide lasting energy. The coconut oil is combined with the other main ingredient, Agave Syrup. When I first learned about Electro-Bites, I had never heard of Agave Syrup. Agave Syrup is a sugar derived from Mexican blue agave plants. This agave contains 50% less fructose than most sugars to help reduce that spike and crash of energy that we get from sugar. The combination of these 2 main ingredients allows for the bites to be a great fuel source.

The Electro-Bites come in 5 flavors: Simply Salty, Salty Vanilla, Apple Cinnamon, Salty Vinegar, and Pumpkin Spice. I love all the flavors but the Pumpkin Spice one is definitely my favorite! I may have a bias towards this flavor though as I am obsessed with anything pumpkin flavor! In the fall I literally will eat and try any food that this pumpkin spice, from coffee to cakes and shakes! All of the flavors I think do have a slightly salty taste to them, but taste great when sweating and working your butt off on a run!

I have found the Electro-Bites to be very helpful when I have been training for my marathon. This past weekend I used the Electro-Bites as fuel during a 16 mile run. A package of the Electro-Bites is small and fits perfectly in my Nathan Hydration pack. Starting at mile 8 I had a handful of the Apple Cinnamon bites. I then had another handful at around mile 11 and at mile 13. I love Electro-Bites because unlike gels you can easily have only part of the package and not have to worry about a sticky mess. The bites are easy to chew and taste good, but I like to have a little water after having them. When running whether it a gel or a drink of Gatorade, I always have a sip of water or just rinse my mouth out, because I have found that any other flavor in my mouth makes my mouth feel very dry. This is true for me with the Electro-Bites as well. Most importantly when I have been having them while running I have had no stomach issues. On my long runs I sometime will get lower stomach cramps, but since having Electro-Bites as fuel I am not experiencing these cramps. They definitely provide me with the energy to sustain myself and feel good on my long runs.

Electro-Bites are a perfect fuel option for me because they provide me with energy and avoid me form having to take gels, as I do not like the texture of gels especially when running!

Want to win a sample pack of Electro-Bites to try them out? Leave a comment below of which flavor you think you would most like to try!

You have until 8/15 to enter and then I will randomly choose the winner!

I would love to hear your thoughts on what fuels you during a long run!

  1. When training for my marathon 2 years ago, I used Gatorade chews and mini nutterbutters for fuel on my long runs. This year I have been on a mission of cleaner eating for me and my family but have not replaced my chews or Gatorade yet—both are full of crazy chemicals I think I could do without. I definitely need to try these. Apple cinnamon, vanilla, and pumpkin spice all sound good!

  2. Pumpkin spice appeals to me as I am wanting it to be fall and have cooler weather to run in. They all sound interesting really.
